Learn these things first

Start a rental viewing with daily usability, then confirm which changes are permitted. Separate your observations, the provider’s statements and items to revisit instead of relying on a single impression. This is an observation checklist, not a property listing.

Before the viewing: use a consistent record

List occupants, work-at-home hours, essential furniture and unacceptable conditions. For each home record the date, weather, floor, orientation basis, usable windows and room purposes. Mark unconfirmed items unknown. Label dimensions as measured or supplied so unlike records are not treated as equivalent.

On site: follow the routes you will use

Walk from entering and storing belongings to cooking, eating, resting and washing. Check doors against furniture. Record sounds with windows open and closed, views, visible damp marks and awkward movements separately. Record a mark’s position and appearance without diagnosing its cause; do not open electrical panels or perform destructive checks.

Example: a quiet daytime visit leaves an evening question

Suppose a bedroom is quiet during a daytime visit but faces the entrance, and the resident needs quiet at night. Record no noticeable noise during this visit, while leaving evening traffic, access sounds and lights unverified. Do not turn an unobserved evening into an all-day quiet claim. If possible, revisit the same position.

Which rental-viewing photos help someone review a layout?

With permission, photograph whole rooms, door-window relationships, key furniture and the surroundings seen through windows. Match numbered positions and viewing directions on the plan. Pair close-ups with a wider view. Before sharing, obscure door numbers, faces, documents and private items; a precise address is unnecessary.

What layout changes can renters discuss without renovation?

Check the lease, furniture ownership and landlord permissions first. Then consider reversible arrangements for movable furniture, a desk, storage or curtains. Recheck doors, windows and routes after each change. Movable does not automatically mean permitted; traditional preferences do not justify altering walls, windows or installations yourself.

How do I prepare rental notes for the Space Between community?

Prepare a plan, photos linked to locations and one clear question, such as where a desk can fit while keeping the bed and wardrobe. State fixed elements, verified dimensions and unknowns, and check visibility before publishing. Uploading photos does not automatically generate a plan; AI floor-plan generation is a separate testing workflow.
